No. The Chatterbox is a private-pay practice; a physician's referral is not required to start evaluation or therapy sessions. You can reach out via the inquiry form, and if our availability matches, we can get started right away. However, some insurance plans may require a referral or other authorization for out-of-network reimbursement. If you plan to submit a superbill to your insurance company, I recommend contacting your plan before beginning services to confirm their requirements for out-of-network speech-language therapy.

I am frequently on the road and in session throughout the day; I do not maintain a live public phone line at this time. Submitting an online Inquiry Form on my Contact Page is the fastest and most efficient way to get your questions answered.

Because early communication skills change rapidly, evaluations must be up to date to build an effective treatment plan. If your child has a comprehensive speech-language report completed within the last 6 months, I will personally review the paperwork. If the information and data are thorough and the treatment goals are still appropriate, we can bypass a full initial assessment. If further data is needed, I will consider a Reevaluation instead. This ensures baseline goals are appropriate for your child.

I have a limited number of appointments available to ensure highly personalized care. I currently offer morning/early afternoon visits. Monday - Thursday. **Friday is typically reserved for evaluations and makeup visits as scheduling permits. Fridays are also reserved for therapy planning/prep, continuing education, and other administrative responsibilities. Available times are shared with families during your free phone consultation.

Therapy frequency and recommendations are highly individualized and are determined during our initial comprehensive evaluation based on your child's specific goals. Typical recommendations may include:
Direct therapy 1x per week for mild- moderate challenges.
Direct therapy 2x per week for moderate - severe challenges.
As progress is made, therapy may transition to a reduced frequency. This may include periodic monitoring and maintenance sessions alongside parent coaching to promote independence and long-term success.

Just a quiet space. I bring my own therapy materials to the session. I follow your child’s lead and am happy to incorporate their own toys, books, games, etc. as well. For home visits, an adult 18 years or older must be present for the entire session.

It is incredibly seamless! Once you provide parental consent, I coordinate directly with your child's daycare to find a time that doesn’t disrupt their daily schedule.
-
You will never be left in the dark! I provide a weekly update that summarizes the goals targeted and provides an activity/strategy to incorporate at home to facilitate carryover of skills until the next session. Always feel free to seek clarification, ask questions, and request additional caregiver coaching when needed!

Communication is a cornerstone of my boutique practice! Active families have direct access to me between visits via text, email, or through the secure client portal. Phone calls can be challenging as I am in session most of the day. If your question requires a longer discussion, simply send a message requesting a phone call, and I will gladly reach out to coordinate a convenient time for us to chat.

Because every child’s speech and language journey is unique, I do not offer bulk packages. Instead, I operate on a pay-as-you-go basis. Allowing you to only pay for the care your child needs without committing to a predetermined number of sessions.
Additionally, because I am a private-pay practice, I provide a monthly superbill (an itemized clinical invoice) that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Insurance companies require individual date-of-service billing, so paying session-by-session actually makes your reimbursement process much cleaner and faster!
**Families with multiple children receiving speech therapy may be eligible for a discounted sibling rate, based on scheduling and service needs.

The Chatterbox Speech & Language Company is an out-of-network provider and does not bill insurance companies directly. However, I can provide a monthly superbill, an itemized statement containing the information and codes typically needed to submit an out-of-network claim to your insurance.
When out-of-network benefits apply, families MAY receive approximately 50-80% reimbursement of the insurance plan’s allowed amount.
I highly recommend contacting your insurance provider before beginning services to confirm your specific out-of-network speech therapy benefits.

If you plan to submit superbills to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement, please call the number on your insurance card and ask:
Do I have out-of-network benefits for pediatric speech-language therapy?
Do I need a referral, prescription, or prior authorization for out-of-network speech-language therapy?
What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much of it have I met?
What is my out-of-network coinsurance or reimbursement rate?
Is there a limit on the number of speech therapy visits covered per year?
How do I submit an out-of-network claim using a superbill?
Are there any other documentation requirements I need to meet for reimbursement?
I provide the applicable diagnostic and procedure codes and other necessary information on your monthly superbill. However, insurance coverage and reimbursement are determined by your individual insurance plan.
I am happy to provide a monthly superbill for you to submit to your insurer. Submitting claims, communicating with your insurance company, and following up on reimbursement are the client’s responsibility. I do not submit claims, communicate with insurance companies, or negotiate claim disputes on your behalf.
